Helix is a personal training, recovery, and nutrition app published by Hive Labs AI LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what data Helix handles and where it goes. The short version: Helix is built to keep your data on your device. We have no user accounts and no Helix server that stores your health information.
Helix is operated by Hive Labs AI LLC. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@helixhealth.tech.
Your workouts, recovery and biometric data, nutrition and supplements, body composition, mindfulness sessions, coach conversations, and check-ins are stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device database. We do not collect, upload, sell, or retain this data on our own systems. Helix has no login and no cloud account.
With your explicit permission, Helix reads health metrics (such as heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep, active/resting energy, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, blood glucose, and body composition) to generate your insights and training readiness, and writes the strength workouts you log back to Apple Health. Health data is processed on your device. Consistent with Apple’s requirements, HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never used for any use-based data-mining purpose. You can revoke Health permissions any time in the iOS Settings app.
Helix’s optional AI features are powered by Anthropic’s Claude models. When you use them, the following is sent to Anthropic to generate a response:
This information is used only to provide the feature. It is not stored by Helix, and it is not linked to your identity. No name, email, or account is sent. For abuse-prevention and rate-limiting, requests through our hosted service include a random, rotating identifier that is not tied to you personally. Anthropic processes this data as our sub-processor under its own terms; see anthropic.com/legal/privacy. If you supply your own Anthropic API key instead, it is stored only in your device’s Keychain and requests go directly from your device to Anthropic.
If you choose to connect a third-party service (for example WHOOP, Oura, Fitbit, Withings, Strava, or Hume), you authorize it through that provider’s own secure sign-in (OAuth). Helix receives access tokens, which are stored in your device’s Keychain, and uses them to pull your data to your device. We do not send your health data to these providers beyond what their sign-in requires. Each provider’s handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy. You can disconnect any service in Helix at any time.
When you search foods or scan a barcode, Helix queries public nutrition databases: the USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. Only the food search text or barcode you enter is sent; no personal or health data is included.
Helix uses the camera and photo library to scan barcodes, photograph meals, and let you save progress photos. Progress photos stay on your device. A meal photo is sent off-device only if you run it through the AI meal estimate (see Section 4); it is not otherwise uploaded.
Helix Premium is sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase. Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription; Helix never receives your payment card or billing details. Whether you have an active subscription is determined on-device from your Apple App Store entitlement.
Helix is intended for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Data is kept on your device under iOS protections; credentials and tokens are stored in the device Keychain. All network requests use encrypted HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but because your data stays on-device by design, there is no central store of user data to breach.
We may update this policy; we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app.
